The sole purpose of a verification code is to prove that you are the person operating the account, not someone who has stolen your password. It is the last line of defense for account security.

Common types of verification codes on Binance

  • Email / SMS verification code: Sent to your email or phone during login, password changes, or withdrawals; valid temporarily.
  • Google Authenticator dynamic code (2FA): A 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds on your mobile app, generated offline and hardest to intercept. It is strongly recommended to enable it. See the setup guide.
  • Anti-phishing code: A custom phrase you set that appears in every legitimate email Binance sends you, used to identify fake emails. See anti-phishing code setup.

The most important rule for beginners

Anyone asking for your verification code is a scammer. Binance customer service or staff will never ask for your login verification code, withdrawal verification code, or Google Authenticator key. Scammers often impersonate "customer service" using excuses like "account anomaly" or "helping you unfreeze" to trick you into giving the code. Once you do, your assets could be transferred away instantly.
