There are two scenarios:
- Self-custodial wallet: Your seed phrase is the only key to your assets. If lost, it is almost impossible to recover. There is no "forgot password" mechanism, and your assets may be permanently locked. This is why offline and multiple backups are essential.
- Exchange account: Exchanges use custodial accounts. You log in with your username/email, password, and 2FA — unrelated to your seed phrase. If you forget your login password, you can follow the official recovery process.
