Wallet scam and phishing FAQ
Is connecting a wallet the same as granting token approval?
No. Connecting normally exposes a public address and lets a site request actions. A token approval is an on-chain permission that may allow a contract to move a specified token. Disconnecting a site does not revoke an existing approval.
Can revoking an approval save a leaked seed phrase?
No. If a seed phrase or private key was exposed, every account derived from it must be treated as compromised. Create a new wallet on a clean device and stop using the old recovery phrase.
Can a wallet app be fake even if it looks identical?
Yes. Logos, screenshots and interface text can be copied. Start from the wallet developer’s verified website, follow its store link and verify the publisher rather than trusting appearance alone.
Can someone recover crypto for an upfront fee?
Treat unsolicited recovery offers and requests for an upfront crypto payment as another scam risk. Preserve evidence and use the exchange, wallet provider and relevant local authority through independently verified channels.
