Sent crypto on the wrong network? Check what happened first

Choose the situation that matches your transfer. This tool explains what the blockchain can prove, who may be able to help and what information to prepare—without asking for a seed phrase or private key.

Stop if anyone asks for your recovery phrase. A legitimate support team may ask for a transaction ID and screenshots, but never your seed phrase, private key, password or 2FA code.
1. What went wrong?
2. Who controls the receiving address?

✓ No address, transaction ID, balance or identity is collected.

Recovery reality check

What changes the chance of recovery?

The transaction status alone is not enough. Control of the receiving address and platform support matter most.

Sometimes recoverable

Wrong EVM network to your own wallet

The same account may exist on both networks. Use your existing trusted wallet to add the actual network and verify the token contract.

Platform review

Wrong network or missing memo at an exchange

Only the receiving platform can assess a manual credit or return. Prepare the transaction ID, asset, amount, network and screenshots.

Usually irreversible

Confirmed transfer to a wrong third-party address

Only the controller of that address can return it. A miner, explorer or “recovery hacker” cannot reverse a confirmed transfer.

Prepare this evidence before contacting support

  • Transaction ID or explorer link
  • Asset name, amount and actual network used
  • Sending and receiving addresses
  • Correct and entered memo or tag, if applicable
  • Withdrawal record and receiving-platform deposit-page screenshots

Do not publish this information in social-media replies. Submit it only through the platform’s verified support channel.

Wrong crypto transfer FAQ

Can crypto sent on the wrong network be recovered?

Sometimes, but not always. If you control the receiving wallet and the network uses a compatible address format, the asset may be visible after adding the network and token. If the destination is an exchange, only that platform can assess a manual recovery.

Can a confirmed transfer to the wrong address be reversed?

Normally no. Blockchain transfers do not have a chargeback mechanism. Only the controller of the destination address could voluntarily return the assets.

Why does the explorer show success but the exchange shows no deposit?

Common causes include insufficient confirmations, an unsupported network or token contract, a deposit below the minimum, a missing memo or an internal exchange review.

What if there is no transaction ID?

A missing transaction ID usually means the sender or exchange has not broadcast the transaction. Check the platform withdrawal status before searching an explorer.

What if I forgot an XRP, XLM or ATOM memo or tag?

The transfer may reach a shared exchange address but cannot be mapped automatically to your account. Contact the receiving platform and provide the transaction ID, asset, amount, network and correct memo or tag.
